Working as an independent film maker in a small country is not for the faint hearted, but it’s a career Costa Botes has pursued single-mindedly, with occasional financial respite as a director for hire, since 1982. His credits include director, writer, camera, editor and producer, with his contribution to most productions including credits in more than one role. He has won several awards for his work both at home and abroad and many of his films have screened in festivals around the world. In 2005 he established his company Lone Pine Film and TV Productions Limited. Alongside his work as a hands on filmmaker, Botes teaches and writes about film and mentors emerging filmmakers.
